Our guests share their most memorable
experiences at Langdon Hall

Thanks to everyone who shared with us their favorite Langdon Hall experiences. We were overwhelmed by not only the number of responses, but also the elegance and warmth of each story. As you will see, it is the little details that make all the difference… sharing the secret ingredient in our home-made croissants… creating a cherished moment in the conservatory… giving a guest’s dog the royal treatment with home made biscuits on arrival at the property. That’s Langdon Hall. We welcome more submissions, including photos of special moments.

“Can’t wait to book our next escape to Langdon Hall.”
“The food was fantastic, the wine selection superb, the weekend unforgettable.”
“impeccable service and attention to detail.”
“my favorite place on the planet!”
“If you’re at Langdon Hall, you’re at home.”

    Homemade Croissants
Karen and Eben Stern learned the secret ingredient of our homemade croissants – a tablespoon of butter.

There are many stories and experiences that I have had at Langdon Hall over the past decade.

After my husband's and my first visit, we enjoyed the room so much we modeled our bedroom at home after the suite we had stayed in!

We enjoyed our visit so much we came back with our friends over the years to celebrate birthdays.

“We and our friends
enjoyed our stay so much”

On one occasion, after enjoying the croissants so much at brunch, we asked the pastry chef the recipe. Not only did he tell us that he used a tablespoon of butter in each one, he told us that he even churned his own butter. He then proceeded to give us some for the drive home. This is what makes Langdon Hall so special.

And not only have we and our friends enjoyed our stay so much, our dog has also received the royal treatment with home made biscuits upon arrival!

We can't wait to book our next escape to Langdon Hall!

    Sincerely,
    Karen and Eben Stern

  The view that changed
everything for Sara Marino.

My fiancé and I were a little bit like oil and water. We searched and searched and searched for a venue to celebrate our wedding but nothing seemed to work. He liked the Four Seasons, I liked Vegas. That is, of course, until one early spring day when we were looking for a place to take our two large dogs for a romp. We literally stumbled upon Langdon Hall.

From the moment we started up the winding driveway through that beautiful stand of pines, I knew this was the place for me. My fiancé was beside him. The icing on the cake was the two giant Bernese Mountain dogs that greeted us. It was perfect.

“The highlight of our life together”

We rented Langdon Hall for a weekend in the late summer and friends and family gathered from far and near to celebrate. To have everyone, for an entire weekend, in one spot -- and such a spectacular spot to boot -- well I can safely say this was a highlight of our life together.

The food was fantastic, the wine selection superb, the weekend unforgettable.

Many of our guests have since stayed at Langdon Hall, as have we. Every year we pack up the animals, the kids and make the trek. We stay in the Pine Suite, which was the one we shared on our wedding night. Our three kids have enjoyed wagon rides, bonfires and hot chocolate, and we have enjoyed peaceful dinners in the dining room knowing our children (and two Irish setters) were safe with the woman from Langdon Hall who always babysits for us.

“the place is, and will always be, magical for us.”

Although the leisurely mornings of newspapers and tea by the outdoor pond have been replaced by no reading and a lot of running, the place is, and will always be, magical for us.

And now I would like to take this opportunity to say, thank you Langdon Hall -- proprietors and staff. I am fully aware of the mess we make and the havoc we wreak and still you have been warm and gracious. See you soon.

“impeccable service and attention to detail”

    Langdon Hall Conservatory
  For guest Bruce Boland,
there's nothing like
dessert in the conservatory.

Langdon Hall has provided us with opportunities to experience five-star dining, accommodation and luxury only an hour’s drive from home. We have done so every year for over a decade. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a very special dinner with impeccable service and attention to detail, including a surprise visit from family and friends and service in the dining room that was beyond comparison.

We have been treated to a wine-tasting on the dining room porch by the sommelier and a tour of the kitchen by the executive chef. Our three-day packages include personal massages in the spa that drain away all cares of everyday worry and stress. The packages also have included excellent breakfasts and dinners. We always save our dessert experience for a special moment in the conservatory an hour or so after the main course of the dinner has settled a bit.

“a world that could be 200 years ago
and hundreds of
miles away

A walk along one of the wooded trails takes you to a world that could be 200 years ago and hundreds of miles away instead of in the middle of Ontario. We will return again to Langdon Hall in June and know that we will be received as old friends who have come home once again.

“my favorite place on the planet!”

    Impeccable service
Impeccable service brings Karen Hahn and her
friends and family back to Langdon Hall again and again.

I couldn't help but feel compelled to write a short summary of the joy I have experienced at Langdon Hall Relais and Chateau.

My first visit was to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends who had made the Langdon Hall discovery and wanted to share its beauty. I was hooked. Since then, I have had the great fortune to return on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes to stay over night, sometimes to mark the end of a particularly gruelling week with a dinner in Wilk's Bar.

“At least once a month,
we treat ourselves
to breakfast in
the
main dining room.”

My husband and I play a game of pool after a delicious pub style meal and are always treated like two very special people by Langdon's staff. At least once a month, we treat ourselves to breakfast in the main dining room, and always marvel at the way we feel when we are there... relaxed and spoiled!

I celebrated my daughter's thirteenth birthday at Langdon, a day I will never forget, and recently celebrated my son's nineteenth birthday. We laughed that he ordered a beer. I couldn't help but think he was only three years old when I first chanced upon my favorite place on the planet!

Thanks for all these years of pure joy!

If you’re at Langdon Hall, you’re at home

    Ken and Katherine
The property’s owners, William Bennett and Mary Beaton (shown above) gave guests Ken and Katherine Peel a special welcome they will never forget.

The place is, and will always be, magical for us. We have long enjoyed special respites and away time, and family time too, at Langdon Hall.

Especially memorable, though, was our September 2004 stay: we had sold our home but could not yet move to our intended new home. After an exhausting final push to clear the house of remaining effects and jam the car with our two boys and stuff, we made our way to Langdon Hall for rest, refreshment and preparation for a new start.

A welcoming smile, a sunlit room and plump duvet, a superlative meal with garden-fresh ingredients, the promise of a spa massage...Our younger remarked to the proprietor, "now we're homeless". He put a hand on our son's shoulder and warmly replied, "If you're at Langdon Hall, you're at home". And indeed we were...and are whenever we travel back to Langdon Hall.
